It’s Harvest Time - Saturday, April 4, 2026
Every spring brings one of the most important days on the farm: shearing day. It is when the alpacas and llamas trade their winter coats for fresh summer cuts and the year’s fiber harvest begins.
For decades, visitors have gathered at WoodsEdge to watch the process, a tradition that began when Fred & Linda Walker, pioneers in the alpaca and llama industries, first opened the farm for public shearing days.
As we celebrate 50 years of WoodsEdge Farm, we invite you to join us for our annual Alpaca & Llama Shearing Fest.
Unlike traditional harvest seasons, the world of alpacas and llamas welcomes its own “harvest time” each spring. Shearing Day is an essential part of caring for our animals, as we remove their warm winter fleece to keep them comfortable for the summer months. This is also the first step in our Field to Fashion process, where we transform their luxurious fiber into high-quality, functional, and fashionable products.
Watch shearing firsthand, interact with the animals, and shop at the WoodsEdge Farm Store! Alpaca & llama food will be available for purchase for an up-close experience.
We look forward to welcoming you to the farm.
